The ancient Chinese philosophical concept of "emptiness and existence" permeates Wang Jie's artistic philosophy. Boldly adopting the idea of "disappearing the physical form while preserving attire" in his paintings, Wang imbues the body with profound cultural significance. The body, as a cultural object, signifies material appearance through attire symbols. This materiality necessitates a cultural perspective to deeply explore the social and cultural implications of the body.

Wang explores variations between body and material, contemplating the spirituality inherent within the physical form. In his later works, he eliminates materiality from his art, using Chinese yang wood as a medium to showcase the conflicts and challenges between bodily desires and cultural representations. This prompts a reevaluation of the tug-of-war between cultural/desirous realities and the superficiality and emptiness behind cultural-political narratives.
