For a young artist aged just 21, who has consecutively won the top two positions in the provincial art exhibition for three years running and received national certification as a permanently exempted artist, Fu Zuo Xin can be considered a prodigy. However, Fu Zuo Xin is not complacent about these achievements. He chose to embark on a journey of further education at the prestigious Versailles Academy of Arts in France, where he concluded his academic career by winning the top prize for his creative group, marking a perfect ending to his time at the academy.
From a public perspective, Fu Zuo Xin is already recognized as one of the top artists both domestically and internationally. Yet, Fu Zuo Xin believes, "Competitions produce judgments within a comparative scope, but what I pursue internally is that incomparable spirit." This sentiment perhaps stems from his artistic journey influenced by both Eastern and Western art traditions. Fu Zuo Xin reflects, "An artist who can endure through the ages must forge their own path."
Embracing this understanding and his quest for self-exploration, in recent years Fu Zuoxin's creations have seen significant breakthroughs and changes. His artistic style has evolved distinctly from his earlier works, showcasing a heightened maturity. His paintings no longer reflect the stylistic appropriations or imitations of Western masters, nor do they mirror popular or derivative cultural elements. Instead, they embody the delicate sensory elements of Eastern art, such as contrasts of black and white, shifts between yin and yang, and exchanges of reality and illusion. His works are imbued with profound spirituality, conveying tranquility, mystery, and restrained emotions, evoking a unique Eastern aura.
This stylistic language, challenging to categorize within the currents of history, may indeed represent Fu Zuo Xin's pursuit of a new aesthetic path as an artistic explorer.
